What happens here.

General dentistry for adults and children. Below is what each appointment actually involves rather than what it is meant to achieve. There are no prices on this site, because the number depends on what we find. You get it in writing before treatment starts.

• Examination

  A full look at teeth, gums and bite, with x-rays where they are needed. We go through what we see, what can wait and what cannot, and you leave with a written plan.

• Hygienist and cleaning

  Scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar above and below the gumline, plus time to go through how you clean at home and what to change.

• Fillings

  The decayed part of the tooth is removed and the space is filled, usually with a tooth-coloured composite shaded to the teeth around it. Local anaesthetic is normal, and we talk about it first.

• Crowns and bridges

  The tooth is shaped, a scan or impression is taken, and the crown or bridge is fitted at a later appointment. You wear a temporary one in between.

• Root canal

  The nerve tissue inside the tooth is removed, the canal is cleaned and sealed, and the tooth is then rebuilt on top. It usually takes more than one appointment.

• Extraction

  When a tooth cannot be kept, it is removed under local anaesthetic. Before you leave we go through the aftercare, and through what the options are for filling the gap later.

• Whitening

  Supervised bleaching, either in the clinic or with trays made for you to use at home. We check first that the teeth and gums are healthy enough for it. How much anything lightens differs from person to person.

• Emergency

  Pain, a broken tooth, a lost filling, a crown that came off. Call in the morning. We hold time free every weekday for the things that cannot wait.
